Chapter 3
Why
do you think the barn in the winter appeared so peaceful?
Well because in our previous book Skylark the desert was full of fires and wild animals. In Caleb's story the barn was peaceful because there was the snow circling around it and nothing is happening
It probably is the most peaceful place because the boards are placed tightly together and are covered by shutters. The shutters stop the wind and precipitation from getting within the dwelling and whatever comes through is absorbed by the wooden boards. This stops the sound and precipitation from coming through. Same story with the roof.
I think it is because Caleb doesn't have to go to school. So Cassie, Sarah, and Caleb don’t have to wake up early and rush, rush, rush. They can sleep in as long as they want.
I think the barn was so peaceful because there was so much craziness in the house. For example John coming. Also it might have been really snowy and loud but because the barn is such a huge structure that you probally would not hear anything.
I think it is peaceful in the barn in winter because all the animals are around and you can lie on the hay with them. Also because there is no snow in the barn and the barn doors are always closed so it is nice and worm in there.
In the winter, it is very windy and cold on the prairie. The animals have warm breath, and since the barn door is usually closed, the warmness of the breath is kept inside. The reason it is peaceful is that it is so windy (as I said) and wind is fierce and strong. The barn is not windy and there is no wind, so it is peaceful and pleasant.
I think this is occuring because in the winter all the animals are migrating or/and hibernating. This also means that no animals will be outside thus making the barn incredibly quiet.
I think the barn is so peaceful in winter because it's such a small quiet place in the center of a huge land that it's simply beautiful and irenic, especially in winter. I also think it's peaceful in the winter because there was no voices and just silence, with only animals with warm breath and bodies.
It seemed peaceful because in the winter animals are quiet. They are quiet because they love listening to the snow, hearing it fall to the ground. In the summer they are noisy because there is nothing to listen to (unless their listening to themselves be noisy).
I think if appeared so peaceful because with all the wind and snow outside making a ruckus, when you walk into the barn it’s just heart-hitting. No noise, just the animals breathing.
I think the barn was peaceful in the winter, because the wood kept the barn warm, and quiet. Peaceful is warm, and guiet! So that means the barn is peaceful!
I think that the barn was so peaceful in the winter because the barn has to be strong and sound resistant so the animals don't freak out. It has to be very strong because if there is a random scenario where the barn walls collapse, the animals wouldn't physically be able to take care of themselves. The barn should be peaceful to help the animals, just like papa said.
There was strong walls to protect the animals, therefore thick. Thickness creates a lower pitch. A lower pitch generates the awqward peace in the barn. That is why the barn is so peaceful.

ReplyDeleteBecause of the rays of gleaming sunlight shining down on the hay and animals. In my opinion that’s pretty peaceful.

ReplyDeleteI think some animals might have hibernated, or some were sleeping. Maybe some animals were just quietly watching the snow, just like what I do!
